September 2nd can not come fast enough. However for Ole Miss rivals, it may be time to face their deepest fears.

Fall practice is going full force. The smell of the football season is in the air. The turmoil which surrounds the program has taken some of the wind out of the sail but football on the field will cure-all that ails. However, the start of football season brings something else. It’s getting closer to the time that our rivals will need to face their fears.

I took a hiatus away from discussing rivalry stuff on social media for nearly two weeks. There is only so much Hugh Freeze bashing you can take. How many lawyers from Twitter University discussing what Ole Miss lawyers should have done about Houston Nutt, can one human digest?

However, while watching from the sideline I asked myself, “why are our rivals so concerned about our fate?”. “Why are they so vested in us being punished?” “Instead of bragging about their team, why are they so focused on us?”

Then it hit me. They are afraid. They have real fears. Not just boogie man type fears. They have the hardcore, need a shrink, cynical fears. They can not help how they act regarding us. It is engrained in their id. However, have no fear (see what I did there), while some have their Twitter degree in law, I have mine in Psychology.

Let’s Help

So, I have managed to sift through all of their collective psyche and categorized seven distinctive fears that these rivals have shown. Once you understand their fears, then maybe you will be able to communicate with them in a more productive way. It is up to us to help them through their labyrinth of misguided focus.

The fears are separated in three distinct types. Basic fears cover simple fears that are common. Intermediate fears are more advance but still are able to be overcame. Then there is über fears that are likely to take substantial time to overcome. Let’s begin.
