Catoptrophobia

(Fear of Mirrors)

I admit that this one took some creative reasoning. However, you will be happy to know I got my minor from Twitter University in creative reasoning. Our rivals have spent a lot of time looking at our University. They’ve gone out of their way to try to find every little piece of information on our football team.

Our rivals have unbelievably convinced themselves that they run a pure program. They believe they have no rogue boosters. Humorously, they think kids choose them because of their not like the other programs in the SEC. How could they be so blind?

They are not blind. However, they do have catoptrophobia. Their inability to look in a mirror has prevented them from seeing who they really are. Looking and examining our university is a coping mechanism for them. They are afraid that if they look in a mirror they will have to come with the terms that they too are a little dirty.

The old adage “out of sight, out of mind” has become their mantra. Except the fact that just because you refuse to look doesn’t mean it’s not there. If our rival would look in the mirror they wouldn’t have enough time to worry about what’s going on in Oxford. They would find enough there to be concerned about.

 Panophobia

(Fear of Everything)

There is a chance I’m being too specific. Maybe I’m trying to be too “on the nose”. Perhaps the fact is that our rivals have panophobia. They simply fear everything. It’s so hard for them to be happy when they are afraid of everything.

When you are afraid all the time, questions keep coming up. What if the NCAA doesn’t punish Ole Miss as harshly as we wish? Oh my, what if Rebel Rags can prove their case? What if our head coach finally leaves like he’s been trying to do for the past few years? How soon before our defensive coordinator make a “lateral” move like the rest of our past defensive coordinators?

So many internal questions causes them to fear everything. The only way to help them overcome this fear is to allow them to enjoy their victories when they can get them. Unfortunately, some sports pundits have filled their heads that they can win a lot of games this year. Some of our rivals will win a few. However, there are a couple who are going to disappointed again. This will cause them to continue to be afraid.
