Ole Miss football fans have been on the receiving end of a flurry of social media attacks by rival fans. Honestly we could care less about being a punchline.

Of course, I will be bashed about writing this piece to begin with. But hey, it’s all good when I know Ole Miss football is their obsession. And it is an obsession. Just pop into a football group and check out the witty memes and catchy comments. It’s really funny to see a fan-base so wrapped up in a rival they can’t keep your name out of their mouth.

Lately, I’ve seen more rumor and innuendo from TSBU than ever before. Each time a story gets told it is embellished to make it appear they know something we don’t, however much of the time it is complete fiction. Oh but Rosey was right. Look, even a blind squirrel can find a nut. Of course, he did go above and beyond normal journalism to crack the big case against Ole Miss and his hard work was rewarded when Hugh Freeze resigned. Of course, Rosey had help from Nutt’s attorney Thomas Mars.

Ok, so I’ll go ahead and admit Steve Robertson has been right way more than any Ole Miss football fan would have ever wanted. Of course, as a I stated before, he put in a lot of footwork to break a huge career ending story.

But just how much of it was really true? We may never know, however there was sufficient and credible evidence for Vitter and Bjork to request Freeze’s resignation. Of course, Freeze wasted no time in giving them what they wanted.

Our rivals got what they wanted also. They got to see an apparent death-blow to our football program just weeks before the season opener against South Alabama.

Now the rivals are restless once again and the banter has turned away from Freeze back to the NCAA investigation and the upcoming COI which will  meet a month from today. Apparently the rivals are more upset with Freeze leaving than thought they would be.

For months, we had heard about a lengthy suspension for Freeze from TSBU pundits. In fact many of the same ones who said Freeze had to go in order to lessen the brunt of the COI ruling, are now saying it was too little too late. Or was it?

No Happiness In Shadiness

To say this entire NCAA investigation was conducted by the book is a plain and simple falsehood. From the time the investigators set foot on Manning Way there has been a level of shadiness by everyone involved. There are ethical or moral questions about the conduct of the lead investigator, Chris Howard, in the case. There were also known leaks from NCAA officials to Steve Robertson. There were apparent ‘roadblocks‘ put in place by the NCAA and TSBU officials to impede a proper investigation by Ole Miss officials.

The whole process has been shady, right down to Ole Miss administration. At least one high-profile player’s parent told me, “Ole Miss administration has kept us in the dark!” Come on now, I’m no rocket scientist or athletic director, but when you have players and their parents asking questions about the program they deserve answers. They have made a commitment to Ole Miss and Ole Miss administration needs to make a commitment to them. If they even want to keep them.

Next: Fear The Rebels!

In less than a month the COI will meet and give their ruling against Ole Miss, however it won’t be the end of the problem. The problem with Ole Miss will continue. We will still have a inept admin who can’t walk and chew gum at the same time. We will still be kept in the dark by a Chancellor and AD who can’t seem to control their institution. It’s time the Ole Miss alumni, donors and fans stand up and demand full disclosure. It’s time we all know the true state of affairs in Oxford.
