Ole Miss Wide Receivers, All-American

At some point early this season this group of wide receivers is going to blow the doors off the rest of the nation. After the first three games these wide receivers will have hauled in more passing yards than anybody else. Too Much? Not really.

When you consider the talent level of this team it’s easy to see. First you have to look at the receivers themselves. Each and every Ole Miss receiver is capable of being the leader by the bye week. Each can accelerate on routes and can get open on sheer speed.

Add to that the fact there may be 4 or 5 on the field at one time and they will be deadly for defenses. Why, because each and every one of these receivers have great hands and the ability to go up top. Oh yeah, they also have a great quarterback throwing the ball.

Think about this. AJ Brown, DK Metcalf, Van Jefferson, Damarkus Lodge, Markell Pack and others put together one great receiver group. Add to that freshman sensation Kam White entering the mix and they have potential to be outstanding. Although they are young for the most part they do have experience.

Last season Jefferson, Brown, Pack and Metcalf accounted for 1,125 yards on 101 receptions while scoring 9 TDs. Van Jefferson led all four with 543 yards on 49 receptions. This season in the Phil Longo offense it will be a receivers dream with a mobile and accurate quarterback. Why?

A New Kind Of Fast

Longo is all about going super fast which will utilize many different receivers. His offense at Sam Houston State put up the some of the best offensive numbers in the FCS in the nation. According to OleMissSports.com,

"Sam Houston had more than 4,500 passing yards and 2,000 rushing yards in 2016. No FBS team accomplished that. ~OleMissSports.com"

This season will be a replay of what we saw in the Grove Bowl this spring. Look at what Jacob Peeler did with Cal receivers and how he impacts this receiver group. This offense and this group of receivers will be special. There is a very good possibility we see two of these receivers go over a 1,000 yards each. Good luck to coaches Longo and Peeler and the Ole Miss wide receivers.
