Ole Miss Football: Making The Grade, Game One, South Alabama Jaguars
Special Team Grade
Ok so we are coming to a close on the grades. However, we have to address the gorilla in the room. Special teams. Yes, we all saw Wunderlich suffer at the tee. However, Wunderlich will right himself. As the father of a kicker, I know its way better to have this happen in the first game and not the fourth. Gary Wunderlich will still wind up winning the Groza.
The really surprising thing from a special teams standpoint was the kickoff return for TD by Jalon Jones. It’s been a minute since we’ve seen that kind of speed on a kickoff return. So here we are with special teams. One missed PAT, one missed FG, and a KOR for a TD. If we have to grade out special teams OHT is handing out a B-. Keep in mind this special teams grade could have been much higher. However, there are no guarantees.
Special Teams Grade B-
One thing is certain, we can all expect the Wunderlich woes to be behind us and special teams will continue to improve. I would be really surprised if Jaylon Jones doesn’t have a few more KOR for touchdown. He is really a special player.
So there you have it! OHT has watched and graded out the Ole Miss Rebels for game one against the South Alabama Jaguars. Do you agree or disagree? Hit us up on Facebook and Twitter and let us know what you think. Ready for next week…Hotty Toddy!
