Ole Miss football found it’s mark against South Alabama in week-one of the college football season. This week they take on the Skyhawks of UT-Martin.

Ole Miss football will hope to continue its winning ways against the Skyhawks of UT-Martin this Saturday at Vaught-Hemingway stadium. Of course, the Rebels are coming off a huge 47-27 rout of South Alabama in week-one of the college football season.

The Skyhawks of UT-Martin are out of the Ohio Valley Conference and just posted a 36-0 shutout over Clarion. The Division I FCS foe comes into Vaught-Hemingway with a 1-0 record and looks to redeem itself from the 76-3 thrashing it took in 2015. Who are we fooling here? It’s nothing more than a glorified scrimmage for the Rebels.

At any rate, they are the Rebels opponents for this week so they should be given the just show of respect. I give you the 2017 week-two preview featuring the UT-Martin Skyhawks. Let’s get started!

First off, don’t let the Ohio Valley Conference moniker fool you. These young men have just as much to play for as Ole Miss does, maybe even more. When you consider what Ole Miss has had to endure with the NCAA fiasco, UT-Martin hasn’t had to. Just saying.

The mantra at Ole Miss has been “we are just ready to play football!” It’s been the same thing at every college across the nation. Literally, they have all been ready to “just play football!”

The Skyhawks are no different. Although they may be from a lesser conference, they have a chip on their shoulder. One bad snap or one great catch can light a fire which is hard to be extinguished.

A Scrappy Bunch

Don’t believe this Skyhawk unit isn’t focused on winning. They are. As stated before they opened their season with a win and hope to continue their winning ways. In the opener, the Skyhawks relied on an intense defensive effort in which they only allowed 146 total yards from Clarion.

Besides the defensive showing they also had a great offensive outing and tallied 457 yards of total offense. UT-Martin has a capable and mobile quarterback in Tony Cook with a bevy of offensive weapons. Coach Jason Simpson and his Skyhawks will be ready to try the young Ole Miss defense and put up yards and points.

However, the Ole Miss defense will see the return of Webster and Bing-Dukes and will certainly be much better than last week. Come on, we all know this game will be all Ole Miss. The offense of Ole Miss will be firing on all cylinders plain and simple.

Next: It's Gonna Be A Great Season!

As much as I expect offensive fireworks in this game from both teams. I also believe we will see the Crimedawg defense continue to improve upon last week. I stand behind my original pick for the game. Ole Miss wins in a rout 63-20. The Rebels welcome the UT-Martin Skyhawks to the Vaught for a 11am kickoff. The game will be televised on the SEC Network.
