Although the Rebels got off to a slow start and saw themselves trailing most of the first half, they shifted gears and finally got rolling. They were able to get the 45-23 win over the UT-Martin Skyhawks behind the record passing day from Shea Patterson.

Shea threw a record-setting 489 yards which broke the record held by Chad Kelly. Shea was 32 of 43 with 5 TDs and only 1 INT. According to OleMissSports.com, Shea hit 74.4% of his passes and completed passes to 9 different receivers on the day.

AJ Brown led all receivers for the second straight week with 8 grabs for 156 yards and 2 TDs. DaMarkus Lodge was hot yet again with 6 catches for 133 yards and a TD.

The Rebels accounted for 543 yards of total offense in the contest. This brings us to the rushing game which netted only 54 yards on the day.

As good as it was to see Shea have a record day we can’t ignore the gap in the rushing game. Jordan Wilkins led all running-backs with 36 yards rushing on 9 carries and 1 rushing TD. On the day the Ole Miss Rebels only rushed the ball 18 times for a 3.0 YPC. There is a glaring deficiency when it comes to the Rebels rushing attack. At least that’s what stands out to this Ole Miss football fan from the UT-Martin game.
