Ole Miss football fans realize the talent we have at quarterback in Shea Patterson. Now, the rest of the conference and the nation are starting to realize it.

Shea Patterson  and Ole Miss football got off to a fast start this season and wasted no time putting up incredibly gaudy numbers. In the season opener against South Alabama Shea went 28 of 35 for 429 yards and 4 TDs. The following week against UT-Martin Shea was lights out with a record-setting effort. Shea shattered the previous school record for passing yardage in a game as he went 32 of 43 for 489 yards and 5 TDs. Last week in the loss at Cal Shea went for 363 yards and 2 TDs of 70+ yards.

After three games Shea leads the SEC in passing yardage. Now when we say ‘he leads’ we don’t mean by a few yards. No he leads by almost 400 yards. In fact, even with the Rebels taking the weekend off for a bye before Bama, Shea will likely still be leading the SEC Sunday morning.

Right now, Shea has completed 86 of 122 passes for an astounding 1,281 yards and 11 TDs.

Of course, with the SEC opener next Saturday in Tuscaloosa with Bama we may expect his numbers to decline somewhat. However, Shea will likely continue to lead the SEC for quite a while. Second on the list is Drew Lock of Missouri with 899 yards.

Of course, a bye-week will only help Shea as he leads his Rebels onto the field at Bryant-Denny Stadium to take on the Crimson Tide. We all know Saban will have something up his sleeve on defense for the sophomore quarterback.

However, the Alabama secondary may be the Tide’s Achilles heel. They have been suspect in every game against less than average quarterbacks and receivers.

That’s not what Saban gets with Shea Patterson and company. Shea has the arm and talent to completely dismantle the Tide secondary if he has time in the pocket. Of course, out of the pocket he has the speed to make a big play out of nothing. Oh yeah, don’t forget he also has one of the best receiving corps in the nation at his disposal.

Next: Bold Predictions!

So SEC nation, go ahead and enjoy number 20’s show. However, you’ll be watching him from behind when you play the Rebels. Shea is the best in the SEC and he is going to put up big numbers on your defense. Hotty Toddy!
