For Ole Miss football we are busy getting ready for what will be our toughest test in the young season. There are certain keys which are a must if we expect to unlock a victory in the SEC opener at Bryant-Denny Stadium next Saturday.

Of course, Ole Miss football fans had this Saturday off in a bye-week. That fares well for every aspect of Ole Miss football and the fans. The Rebels returned to Oxford via Berkeley beaten, battered and bruised. They also came back with a wealth of information about the program. Let’s face it, last weekend was as ugly a second half of football as any we witnessed last season. Only this time it wasn’t players who dropped the ball. It was the coaches.

“Look, we all watched the same game”, as my buddy Jim stated on a twitter response to the grades I handed out earlier this week. He’s absolutely correct. We all did witness the same contest and it was eerily familiar in the second half. The meltdown was reminiscent of last season for many of us Rebels. However, this is a new team and a new staff and they know they have to play better ball to make this season a success.

Anytime you have a loss you have a chance to evaluate yourself and make the necessary adjustments. That’s how you get better. The loss at Cal showed some major deficiencies in every aspect of the game. Naturally, those are the areas in which you want to improve. Here are some key aspects the Rebels need to work on this week in order to insure a win over the Crimson Tide.
