Ole Miss football has been in a tough spot over the past few weeks. Of course, we want to move forward with a win over the Auburn Tigers, however it may not be that easy.

Ole Miss football has found itself with a 2-2 record and headed to take on the No.12 ranked Auburn Tigers. This morning the Rebels will take the field in yet another trip to Alabama. The last one didn’t end too well and this one may not look much better.

However, we are here to judge the competition and see where they stand. Of course, we also have to look at our chances in each phase of the game. This is a really tough Auburn Tigers football team. The Tigers are coming off a huge 48-10 win over Miss State last weekend at home and will be ready.

Head coach Gus Malzahn has mastered while at Auburn and despite setbacks last season has bounced back into the national spotlight. Auburn is currently ranked 12th in the nation and boasts weapons on both sides of the ball.

Of course, every great team has its own Achilles heel and in this case Auburn has given up more sacks than any other SEC team.

However, don’t be fooled by that stat. They have a great defense. In fact the Auburn Tigers defense is ranked within the Top-5 in the FBS. They’ve held opponents to a meager 55 points thru five games.

No Easy Task

Of course, this will not be an easy task to go into Jordan-Hare Stadium and try to get the huge upset over the No.12 ranked Tigers.

Any success Ole Miss will have today depends on the ability to pass protect and handle the pressure up front. We already know Malzahn intends to pressure Shea Patterson. Thru the last 6 quarters of play Ole Miss has failed to pick up the blitz. They must do better today.

On defense, the Rebels have to be able to make stops and pressure Stidham. If the defense steps up it will go a long way to helping Ole Miss on the field. However, they can’t stay on the field all day. Will Ole Miss football resurface today against the Tigers? We don’t have to wait much longer.

Next: Season Predictions!
