Ole Miss football fans are very familiar with the term ‘lack of institutional control’. Last time I checked, the athletic director runs the institution.

The first rule of plumbing and Ole Miss football is crap runs down hill. It certainly has in recent months around Oxford. Right now, around the Ole Miss football program there are fingers being pointed in every direction. Ole Miss football is in a state of turmoil unlike any before. It’s truly a sad state of affairs in Oxford.

Amid the entire NCAA investigation there have been several very big question marks. How did all of this happen? Who failed to monitor the football program? As bad as I dislike Jeff Vitter right now, it wasn’t his fault. Maybe, who knows? He seems to be more worried with mascots than anything right now. Smh.

Oh, and iIt wasn’t Hugh Freeze. He was thrown under the bus early into the ‘cell numbers’ scandal.  Come on, three of us are on an elevator and one passes gas and we all know who did it. Even if we didn’t do it, we know who did. Freeze may be guilty but he’s not the culprit. So, who’s left? Who is the one guy who is over all athletics operations? Oh yeah, Ross Bjork the Ole Miss AD. He’s the biggest question mark in this whole charade.

Right now, there are voices among Rebel faithful crucifying one of our own over a lackluster Ole Miss football team. Oh, this is far from Matt Luke’s fault. Matt Luke has been thrown as far under the bus as Freeze. Not just one head coach has been sacrificed but the Luke/Ole Miss legacy is under scrutiny. Essentially, there have been two head coaches ruined. Whose watch did this mess fall under? Athletics Director Ross Bjork.

Problems In Oxford

Sure, there are obvious issues with our athletics department. In no time, in my 52 years, can I remember there being this many problems. We’re talking about the Brewer probation issues included.

I’ve seen the worst of the worst and the current state of Ole Miss football is truly a dumpster fire. The sad part is this is just the beginning of what will be even worse.

So we ask ourselves, could this have been diverted? Was Freeze the pound of flesh to satisfy the NCAA? Or was he the pound of flesh which saved Ross Bjork’s job? Funny how Bjork’s name keeps popping up.

We really have no way of knowing, however could this entire 2-3 record under an interim head coach have been diverted? Of course, it could have. However, we have bigger issues at Ole Miss to worry about. I mean mascots are way more important right now than a winning record. Smh.

Just My Opinion

Yes, we all have an opinion. I happen to know mine is shared with a large number of Rebel faithful. It’s my belief Ole Miss football would have been better served by allowing former head coach Hugh Freeze to finish the 2017 season. We’d have a better record, a chance of salvaging a large exodus of players and at least they would have shown they cared about our program more than themselves.

Right now, there are fans of schools across the SEC begging for Hugh Freeze to take over. Oh it’s true. They are willing to give Hugh Freeze another chance, so why didn’t we? Because, one man cares more about his job than he does Ole Miss. Ross Bjork is not Ole Miss family and never will be. Right now, Bjork is on borrowed time. With Freeze out of the picture, who does the NCAA coffin lid close upon? Oh, I believe we know.

Next: Predictions!

If the COI should rule beyond what Ole Miss self-imposed then Bjork should be gone. Ole Miss football has met their ruin at the hands of a man who will go down as the worst athletics director in our athletics department history. Oh yeah, we have problems and Ross Bjork is one of the biggest. Is this the point in which we settle for mediocrity because of another inept Ole Miss AD? Do we want or deserve that? NO! We should cut him loose. Step up and rise above what’s not Ole Miss. Hotty Toddy!
