Despite a 2-3 record Ole Miss football has the leading quarterback in the SEC. Shea Patterson is easily proving why he is the best in the SEC.

While Ole Miss football is faulting in SEC play thus far, Rebels quarterback Shea Patterson is showing us and the rest of the nation he is the best in the SEC. Sure, his critics at TSBU will try to spin the first two games into 1,792 passing yards and say it came early. Even though we had losses at Cal, Bama and then Auburn, Shea has still put up great numbers.

Going into the Vandy game this Saturday, Shea leads the SEC in passing yardage. He also leads the SEC in passing completions, attempts and QB rating. So far, Shea is 134 of 202 for 1,792 yards and a QB rating of 156.2. Right now, Shea is also co-leader for TDs. He is tied with Drew Lock of Mizzou with 13 TDs. Both also have only 6 INTs on the season which is phenomenal considering they’ve both had to run for their lives.

So Shea is already at least 300 yards ahead of every other SEC QB on the list. I mean what’s in 300 yards? Well, when you look at Shea’s stats in the SEC they are impressive to say the least.

However, when you look at where he sits nationally compared to other SEC quarterbacks it’s not even close. Right now, Shea Patterson ranks 9th nationally in passing yardage. To put it into perfect perspective, there’s not even another SEC quarterback in the Top-25.

We Should Expect More

When I say we should expect more, I don’t mean from Shea physically. He gives everything he has on every play and doesn’t quit. What I’m talking about is more big numbers.

Of course, his performance hinges on the entire offense’s performance. When Shea has the offense clicking up-tempo he can easily continue to put up huge numbers. With the talent he has up front and the weapons he has at his disposal, Shea will hang onto the ‘Best in the SEC’ tag for a while to come.

Next: Season Predictions!

The Rebels will host the Vanderbilt Commodores this Saturday in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30pm CT and will be televised on the SEC Network. Hotty Toddy!
