Ole Miss Football: Grading Out The Ole Miss/Arkansas Game
Special Teams
Special teams are a very important aspect of football. Of course, losing a close game on a last second FG clearly illustrates the importance in the worst way. However, when your special teams unit consistently grades out good from week to week it’s great. The sad part is it has been the only consistent bright spot for Ole Miss football.
Gary Wunderlich has found his groove once again and was money in the Arkansas game. Wunderlich was 3 for 3 on FGs in the game with makes from 37, 36 and 20 yards. Will Gleeson handled punting duties and had 2 punts for 88 yards with one downed inside the 20 yard line. Luke Logan once again handled the kickoff duties with 8 KOs but only 1 touch-back.
In the return game AJ Brown continues to field punts. Brown had one punt return for 15 yards. Jaylon Jones continues to impress on kickoff returns. Jones had 6 returns for 110 yards with a long of 26 yards. I really feel Jones will break a return for a TD before the season is over.
So far this special teams unit has played solid under the direction of coach Bradley Dale Peveto and have gotten better as the season has progressed. Behind the leg of Wunderlich in the Arky game this special teams unit grades out well once again.
