It’s officially Egg Bowl week for Ole Miss football fans, however there are a few other things which the Grove Grinder wants to address this week.

It was a rough weekend to be a Ole Miss football fan. A loss is never good but even worse when you watch your favorite college implode in the second half of a game in which they were leading at the half. Of course, it’s been a rough season and it still isn’t over. There have been no certainties when it comes to this season. One thing we can be certain of is my opinion on a few issues. Of course, I’ll air them here.

First, I wasn’t able to attend the Ole Miss/Texas A&M game. Second, instead I was left to watch the game at home and suffer thru the relentless drivel of former Ole Miss coach Tommy Tuberville. Of course, losing the game to the Aggies was bad enough without having to listen to the Tub. Look, ESPN has every right to send whomever they wish to Oxford to color the game. And Rebels fans have every right not to forget the way he ran out on the Ole Miss football program in the middle of the night.

Some younger Rebels may not remember the ‘pine box’ comment by Tuberville. “They’ll have to carry me out of here in a pine box,” said Tubby when the rumors surfaced about the Auburn job. Now we all know he lied and it hasn’t been forgotten by die-hard Ole Miss fans. To make it even worse he was allowed by Ole Miss administration to do the “Are You Ready?” Of course, he was booed by Ole Miss fans. Even some A&M fans believed it was ridiculous.

I’m Sorry, So Sorry

After the ‘Hotty Toddy’ cheer debacle after halftime Saturday night there were apologies from Ole Miss administration Sunday. Vice Chancellor for Athletics aka Athletic Director Ross Bjork and others issued apologies.

It’s amazing what a little foresight can do to keep egg off your face AD Bjork. To be totally honest I was shocked anybody was able to convince you this was a good idea on senior night in the last home game of the season.

After all this team, university and Ole Miss fans have had to endure this season it was a slap in the face from our administration. Instead of apologizing for this mistake, why not apologize for not extending the contract of basketball coach Andy Kennedy?

Fake News?

Sunday morning it was reported by SB Nation Ole Miss administration had reached out to Oregon head coach Willie Taggart. It was also reported Taggart had declined the job. This turned out to be erroneous information and was later cleared up by the editor for SB Nation.

Sometimes it’s easy for contributors to jump the gun. This was the case in this situation. We are only human and we are subject to make critical mistakes from time to time. We all have sources however, our sources aren’t always correct. I’m glad this turned out to be false. Hopefully it didn’t damage any current or future relationship between Taggart and Ole Miss.

Next: Always A Controversy!

Well, that’s all I’ve got for this Grove Grinder. With the Egg Bowl this week I’m sure I’ll have more in the next edition. Have a great Thanksgiving week and remember we all have something to be very thankful for. Hotty Toddy!
