Ole Miss basketball will be looking to break a two game losing streak as they travel to Murfreesboro Tennessee to take on Middle Tennessee State University.

Ole Miss basketball (4-3) is coming off back to back overtime losses. The first was a 99-97 loss to South Dakota State and the second was a 83-80 loss to Virginia Tech. Obviously Ole Miss has found itself hoping to bounce back while on the road this Saturday against MTSU. Of course, on the road with two straight losses is not what any of us expected from this Rebels basketball team.

MTSU is sitting at 6-1 for a very good reason. They have a good team and giving the Blue Raiders home court advantage could prove difficult for the Rebels. However, we know head coach Andy Kennedy wasn’t happy with his team’s performance this past Saturday. We can expect to see a different mode for the Rebels against MTSU. Will we see Ole Miss play with a sense of urgency?

A Sense Of Urgency

Besides coming off a 66-63 win over the Vanderbilt Commodores the Blue Raiders also have a RPI of 16. This could easily be the toughest road game which Ole Miss has faced thus far in the 2017-18 season.

Though the Vandy game is the only real test MTSU has faced they have stars. Brandon Walters, Nick King and Giddy Potts are all players who have incredible scoring potential in any game. MTSU thrives on smart basketball and of course strong guard play and athletic forwards.

Rebels Need This

Ole Miss basketball will certainly have its work cut out in Murfreesboro. Of course, it’s very important Ole Miss picks up a win this week. According to OleMissSports.com, the Rebels are entering the 3rd game in a 8 game stretch which finds them playing 7 games in Oxford. However, the last 3 of those 4 games Ole Miss will be facing teams which all made it to the 2017 NCAA Tourney.

Coach Andy Kennedy and the Rebels must get this road win. If they ever needed to play with a sense of urgency then this game should be it. We can expect to see Ole Miss come out fired up. Whether or not they are firing on all cylinders remains to be seen.
