The 2018 National Signing Day was special for Ole Miss football as they received a letter of intent from 4-star wide receiver Miles Battle.
Last Wednesday Ole Miss football finished up its 2018 recruiting class on National Signing Day. It was huge day for the football program as coach Matt Luke added seven more players to the class. It brings the total number of signees at this point to twenty-one. One of the top names of the class is that of Miles Battle.
Miles Battle is a 4-star rated WR who some believe is the biggest catch in this class. That is really saying a lot about the talent Battle has when you consider some of the others signed in his own class. Of course, when you consider the elite receiving corps which Ole Miss possesses the you can see why coach Matt look went after some of the best. Battle is one of the best.
Miles Battle
Ole Miss Rebels Football
Miles Battle is a 6’4″ 174 lb wide receiver out of Houston, Texas. While at Cypress Creek High School in Houston Battle was a show-stopper at the wide-out position.
Known as the ‘Jumpman’ you can watch his highlights and see why he earned that moniker. During his senior varsity season at Cy Creek battle had 52 receptions for 761 yards and 13 TDs. He averaged 14.6 yards per catch and averaged 84.6 receiving yards per game.
Of course, Battle has the size, speed and skill to be a dominant receiver for the NWO at Ole Miss and it is easy to believe he can do that when you imagine him in the coach Phil Longo offense. Battle has the potential and now the opportunity to be one of the best receivers in the SEC and the nation.
As Ole Miss football fans we’ve easily grown accustomed to having the best wide receiving corps in the SEC if not the nation. Of course, Miles Battle will become another piece in an already great group.
Ready For Battle
Battle is the perfect fit for coach Jacob Peeler and the Ole Miss receiving corps and likely will make an immediate impact. With the shortage at the WR position it seems likely Battle will see plenty of action at the position in 2018. Longo’s super-fast paced offense really depends on fresh WRs to maintain momentum. Battle will see a lot of passes right out of the gate because he is that good.
Next: Looking A Little Further Ahead
Matt Luke did a great job with the 2018 recruiting class. Of course, because of players like Miles Battle he managed a top 25 class amid all the negatives. OHT wants to welcome Miles Battle to the Ole Miss family. Thanks for choosing Ole Miss and we look forward to seeing him on the field. Hotty Toddy!
