National Signing Day was huge for the 2018 Ole Miss football recruiting class with the signing of a number of very talented defensive players.

For head coach Matt Luke and Ole Miss football this 2018 recruiting class has been special. It had already been an amazing class but got even better on National Signing Day as the Rebels added seven players to the already great class. Of course, Luke and his staff had been clearly focused on recruiting for the defense so it’s no surprise 15 of 21 signees were on that side of the ball.

One area of concern for the Ole Miss staff was at the linebacker position. Of course, Ole Miss added four linebackers to the roster in the 2018 class. One of those is a player who was already somewhat familiar with the Ole Miss program. 2018 signee Luke Knox of Brentwood, Tennessee just happens to be the little brother of Ole Miss tight-end Dawson Knox.

Out of Brentwood Academy in Brentwood, Tennessee Luke Knox is rated a 3-star LB by Rivals. At 6’4″ and 210 lbs Knox is a very good outside linebacker. He has the size to be a dominant LB, however Knox also possesses great quickness and closing speed on the ball.

Luke Knox is a natural athlete who can play the linebacker position very well. But of course, please don’t take my word for it. Just watch his highlight reel and see for yourself. Many of the college recruiting pundits haven’t given Knox nearly enough credit. Luke Knox will be a very special player for the Rebels in the future.

Of course, it is really easy for me as a Ole Miss contributor to exclaim all signees are great players but with this class it’s the truth. Coach Matt Luke and his staff did an excellent job of evaluating the talent in the 2018 class. Coach Jon Sumrall is getting a very talented group of linebackers in this class and  Luke Knox is a prime example of this.

We Are Family

There is no doubt we are serious about family at Ole Miss. When it comes to the Ole Miss family nothing stands out more than the names you see in duplicate. Whether it’s Kinard, Manning, Fourcade or Luke you see a history of family within a family. Of course, nothing is quite like seeing two brothers play together. I know family is very important to head coach Matt Luke and he believes in family tradition. Now Luke Knox is part of a family tradition as well.

Next: Looking A Little Further Ahead

Of course Ole Miss football fans are excited about the 2018 recruiting class and the players who are the future of Ole Miss football. Luke Knox is one of those players who will help carry our program for the next four years. Thanks for choosing Ole Miss Luke and welcome to the Ole Miss family. Hotty Toddy!
