National Signing Day was huge for coach Matt Luke and the 2018 Ole Miss football recruiting class when they signed seven more players.

Coach Matt Luke and Ole Miss football had a huge National Signing Day which saw the Rebels ink seven more notable players. With a clear commitment to shoring up depth on the defensive side of the ball, coach Matt Luke went after some top defensive talent. There are some really good players in the 2018 Ole Miss recruiting class.

One area of concern for the Ole Miss Staff was at the linebacker position. Coach Matt Luke and his staff signed four linebackers in the 2018 class who are all very talented at the position.  Kevontae’ Ruggs out of Montgomery is one of those players. Of course, we want to get to know Kevontae’ a little better and see how he can help Ole Miss football.

Kevontae’ Ruggs is a 3-star rated LB out of Montgomery, Alabama both Rivals and Scout. Ruggs is listed at 6’4″ and 210 lbs and is a beast at the linebacker position. He is tall and rangey and is very quick to the ball. Ruggs is sized like the prototypical linebacker and is very talented and plays the position with instinct.

Of course, we know he is talented or the Ole Miss staff wouldn’t have gone after him with the vigor they did. Like all the rest of the 2018 class Ruggs has a highlight reel which speaks for itself. Check it out and see for yourself.

Ruggs is certainly at the size where he could add some weight and still maintain the speed and quickness of a SEC linebacker. He has the potential to be an immediate impact within the Rebels defense. Of course, we can be certain Ruggs will see some action this fall.

Ruggs Chooses Ole Miss

Although Ruggs was recruited by former Ole Miss linebacker coach Bradley Dale Peveto and current defensive line coach Freddie Roach it’s coach Jon Sumrall who struck gold. Sumrall gets a very talented linebacker who also had offers from Alabama, Louisville, Texas A&M, West Virginia and Penn State. Kenvontae’ Ruggs also happens to be the younger brother of Bama WR Kevin Ruggs. This was a huge pick-up for the Ole Miss football program and the Ole Miss family.

Next: I Think I Did Good...

There is no doubt Ole Miss football fans are impressed with the job head coach Matt Luke has done. Of course, the 2018 Ole Miss recruiting class finished in the Top-25 because of great players like Kevontae’ Ruggs. Thanks for choosing Ole Miss Kevontae’ and welcome to the Ole Miss family. Hotty Toddy!
