Breeland Speaks

Besides being a fan favorite while at Ole Miss Breeland Speaks was also a nightmare for opposing offensive linemen. Speaks was one of the toughest defensive tackles many of us can remember at Ole Miss. Of course, Speaks was a beast on the field and it resulted in him being named to the 2017 All-SEC Second Team.

At 6’3 and 285 lbs Speaks plays like a linebacker. Even with his massive size he is quick and very agile. Of course, we never realized he was as fast as he is until we watched him run his 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. Speaks checked into Indy a couple of pounds light at 283 lbs and participated in all the drills except the bench press.

Breeland Speaks ran a very fast and very impressive official time of 4.87 in the 40-yard dash with a 10-yard split of 1.65. His 3-cone drill time was 7.63 with a vertical of 32.5″ and a broad jump measuring 9’2. Very impressive. Remember, Speaks is a defensive tackle but also started 7 games last season at defensive end. Some NFL team could get the best deal in the draft when they pick Speaks up. His combine was really that good.

Combine Grade: A+

Next: Looking Ahead

In Closing

OHT has been holding our breath waiting for more news to sift out regarding these four former Ole Miss football players. Of course, all of the NFL draft pundits have been really busy the past couple of weeks. Each of these players had average or above average combine experiences and some NFL scouts have taken notice. We will have updates coming very soon with scouting notes and predictions for their spots, or lack thereof, in the 2018 NFL Draft. Hotty Toddy!
