Ole Miss Football: Five Takeaways From The 2018 Grove Bowl
Running-backs
This position group on offense continues to draw questions. Of course, with the departure of Jordan Wilkins there is a void to fill. Which back-up Ole Miss running backs stepped up last season? Most of the reps by backups were divided between juniors D’Vaughn Pennamon and Eric Swinney and senior DK Buford. It is expected these three will compete for the lead job. Also the Rebels have moved Armani Linton to the running-back depth chart.
Rebels fans are very excited about the 2018 recruiting class which saw the top JUCO back in the nation sign with Ole Miss. The Rebels picked up Scottie Phillips from Jones County Junior College and top high school running back Isaiah Woullard of Hattiesburg in the early signing period. After watching Phillips thru the spring it’s easy to see why he could easily be the premier Ole Miss running-back in the very near future. Phillips led the Rebels in rushing in the Grove Bowl with 9 carries for 40 yards. Linton had 5 carries for 35 yards while Swinney had 7 carries for 32 yards.
