No.7 Ole Miss baseball was finally back home off the road as they hosted the Arkansas State Red Wolves Wednesday night at Swayze Field.

No.7 Ole Miss baseball (30-8, 8-7) was coming off a SEC road series loss at No.15 Vanderbilt and was glad to be back home. Wednesday night the Rebels would be hosting the Arkansas State Red Wolves at Swayze Field. Arkansas State (12-21, 4-11) was coming off a Sun Belt series loss on the road at UT Arlington.

The Rebels wasted no time taking control of the game and scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st. Arkansas State answered with 1 run in the top of the 2nd to cut the lead to 3-1 Rebels. However, Ole Miss added 4 runs in the bottom of the frame to take a 7-1 lead.

After a scoreless 3rd the Rebels added 2 more runs in the bottom of the 4th to make the score 9-1. The Rebels added an insurance run in the bottom of the 5th to extend the lead to 10-1. The Red Wolves added 2 runs in the top of the 6th to cut the lead to 10-3 Ole Miss. However, Arkansas State couldn’t close the deal and the Rebels took the 10-3 midweek win.

The midweek win gave Ole Miss baseball their 30th win of the season and pushed their midweek record to 11-0 on the season. The win also pushed the Rebels home record to 20-2. Baseball is a game of momentum and Ole Miss was capable of seizing control of the momentum in this game. This sets the Rebels up well for a good home series this coming weekend but for now we’ll enjoy this game by the numbers.
