After last season ran off the rails for Ole Miss basketball things are finally falling into place for coach Kermit Davis and the Ole Miss program.

Last season wasn’t pleasant for most Ole Miss basketball fans. However, last season did result in a new era of basketball in Oxford. While we watched former head coach Andy Kennedy tap out before the season’s end we also saw Ole Miss land a great new head coach. Enter new Ole Miss basketball head coach Kermit Davis.

So now after just a few short weeks the Ole Miss basketball program is already looking up under coach Kermit Davis. As of now the future looks bright for Rebels hoops and Davis has already been busy getting some great young talent in Oxford to compliment his existing team. Of course, we expected Davis to have to fill a few gaps in the Rebel roster and he is.

Of course, we expected Davis to get busy right away in terms of recruiting as he was hired just days before NSD. The Rebels lost a number of seniors and one player decided to forego his senior season for the NBA Draft. There were gaps to fill with new recruits and Davis has gone after some of the best.

As of now the 2018 Ole Miss basketball recruiting class sits at five new faces for the hardwood Rebels. They consist of Anthony Higgs and Brian Halums who have also each signed a LOI and then three commits which have come in late.

Added to the 2018 class are three top commits who will play into the Ole Miss roster. The incoming commits include Blake Hinson of Wichita, Kansas, KJ Buffen of Gainesville, Georgia and Franco Miller, Jr of Mantua, Ohio. With all three of these commits we have seen the future Ole Miss basketball under coach Kermit Davis. So far, so good.

What To Expect

Coach Kermit Davis has a boat-load of talent coming in and still has the existing roster. Davis has plenty of talent to utilize and should easily make Rebels hoops a danger in the SEC again. We can all obviously remember the electrifying days of former head coach Andy Kennedy and hope for that kind of team again.
