No.4 Ole Miss baseball was back in action Friday night as they faced Alabama in game-two of the final SEC series of the season.

Ole Miss baseball (41-14, 16-12) was coming off a game-one win over the Tide Thursday night and looked to get the series win Friday. However, SEC baseball can be a fickle mistress especially in road games. The Tide who sport the worst record in the SEC wouldn’t make it easy for the Rebels on Friday night. A lack of offensive production on the Rebels part only made it tougher.

Scoreless thru 5 and a half innings the Crimson Tide got on the board first with 1 run in the bottom of the 6th. With the 1-0 lead the Tide then added 2 more runs in the bottom of the 8th to extend the lead to 3-0. Ole Miss baseball couldn’t put together the rally and the Tide picked up the 3-0 game-two win over the Rebels.

Ole Miss baseball needed the win to stay in the hunt for the SEC West title and still have an outside shot. The Rebels need a game-three win and a loss by Arkansas to secure the SEC West. Of course, before we get ahead of ourselves we’ll look at the game-two loss by the numbers.

By The Numbers

Sophomore right-hander Houston Roth (5-0, 4.14) entered in the 6th and went for 2.1 innings while allowing 2 earned runs. Roth had 2 Ks and 2 BB.
