Ole Miss Baseball: Five Diamond Rebels Tabbed With All-SEC Honors

After a super great Ole Miss baseball season and a SEC West title the Rebels found themselves on the receiving end of honors.

Ole Miss baseball is having a great year and just won a SEC West regular season title. Now, it is just getting better as they begin the SEC Tourney and the post-season. Of course, with the end of the regular season in the SEC there are always accolades for the better players within the SEC.

This season there were five Ole Miss Rebels who received All-SEC honors. The role each of these players have played in the success of the Rebels this season is extraordinary. And now they are being recognized by the toughest baseball conference in the nation, the SEC.

Five Very Valuable Players

Ryan Olenek, Nick Fortes, Cole Zabowski, Anthony Servideo and Parker Caracci were honored by the SEC for the great seasons they had. Junior Ryan Olenek who leads the Rebels in batting at .373 made 1st Team All-SEC as an outfielder of course. Olenek also has a slugging % of .500 and an on-base % of .410.

Junior Nick Fortes made 2nd Team All-SEC at the catcher position. Fortes has a had a really good season behind the plate for the Rebels, however he has been very productive in the box. Fortes is hitting .299 with a slugging % of .525 and on-base % of .415.

Sophomore closer Parker Caracci also made the 2nd Team All-SEC team and had an outstanding regular season on the mound for the Rebels. Caracci made 24 appearances in 2018 going 40.1 innings as the Ole Miss go-to closer. Caracci carries a record of 3-2 with 10 save and a 1.79 ERA into the postseason.

Sophomore Cole Zabowski was selected to the All-SEC Defensive Team at 1st base. Zabowski has been hitting at a .318 average with a slugging % of .415 and an on-base % of .390. Freshman Anthony Servideo made the Freshman All-SEC Team at the short-stop position. Servideo started 15 games at short for the Rebels out of 30 appearances.
