No.4 Ole Miss baseball was back in action Saturday as they faced the Texas A&M Aggies in Hoover in the SEC Tourney in the semifinals.
Ole Miss baseball was back in action Saturday in Hoover, Alabama. The Rebels came into Saturday off a Friday win over Auburn and advanced to the semis where they would face the Texas A&M Aggies. The Aggies came into the semifinals game off a win over Auburn. The match-up was the fourth meeting between the Rebels and the Aggies going back to the regular season weekend series which saw the Rebels take two games from A&M.
After 3 scoreless innings Saturday the Rebels jumped on the board first with 2 runs in the top of the 4th. The Rebels maintained the 2-0 lead thru the top of the 8th inning when A&M tried to rally back with 1 run in the bottom of the 8th. The Aggies couldn’t produce any further and the Rebels picked up the huge 2-1 win.
Of course, the win was huge for the Rebels who are headed into Championship Sunday to face the LSU Tigers for the SEC Tourney Championship. The Rebels took 2 of 3 from LSU during the regular season weekend series. For now we look at Saturday’s win by the numbers.

Freshman lefty Jordan Fowler (7-0, 3.18) drew the start for the Rebels on the mound. Fowler went for 6.0 innings and allowed no earned runs on 6 hits. Fowler had 3 Ks and 1 BB. Sophomore right-hander Will Ethridge (3-1, 3.83, 3) entered in the 7th and went the rest of the way on the mound for the Rebels. Ethridge went for 3.0 innings and allowed no earned runs on 2 hits. Ethridge had 1 K and 1 BB.
At The Plate
In Saturdays match-up against solid Aggies pitching there were 6 Rebels who combined for 10 hits. Three Rebels had multiple hit games. Leading all Rebels was senior Will Golsan (.297, 4 HR) who went 3 for 4 at the plate with 1 RBI.
Junior Nick Fortes (.307, 11 HR) went 2 for 3 while junior Ryan Olenek (.365, 3 HR) went 2 for 4. Sophomores Grae Kessinger (.301, 7 HR) and Thomas Dillard (.313, 13 HR) both went 1 for 4 at the plate. Sophomore Cole Zabowski (.311, 9 HR) also went 1 for 4 at the plate with 1 RBI.
