With the Ole Miss football season rapidly approaching OHT is looking at different position groups and handing out preseason grades for each group.

With Ole Miss football just around the corner we are anxiously awaiting September 1st and the opening game for the Rebels. One of the most exciting position groups for the Rebels is at wide receiver. Ole Miss has one of the top wide receiver groups in the SEC if not the nation. Last season we watched as the NWO became a solid offensive go-to for Jordan Ta’amu and the very fast and potent Ole Miss offense.

It’s difficult to imagine the NWO having a better season than in 2017. However this group is solid and will produce this season. It will be a tall feat for the Rebels wide-outs bu OHT believes we see two receivers push the 1K yard mark in 2018. When you consider the numbers AJ Bown put up last season and the talent pool in this group it’s not hard to consider.

A Look At The Roster

Of course, this very talented group is led by AJ Brown. Brown led the SEC last season as he hauled in 75 receptions for 1,252 yards and 11 TDs. He is backed up by DaMarkus Lodge  and DK Metcalf. Both of who are very good receivers in their own right. Lodge had 41 receptions for 698 and 7 TDs while Metcalf had 39 receptions for 646 yards and 7 TDs.

The Rebels have other targets in the NWO with a few new faces headed into the 2018 Ole Miss football season. So far the Rebels are sitting 11 deep at the WR position and have some new faces in the group.

Freshman DeMarcus Gregory was an early enrollee and was present for the spring game. Gregory was part of the 2018 Ole Miss football recruiting class. He is expected to make a significant impact this season. Other Rebels receivers to watch for in 2018 include sophomore Braylon Sanders, senior Alex Weber and a number of red-shirt freshmen.

Preseason Grade: A+

Next: Season Predictions!
