Ole Miss Baseball: No.2 Rebels Take Sunday Win Over Tennessee Tech
No.2 Ole Miss baseball was back in action Sunday afternoon as they faced Tennessee Tech at Swayze Field in the Oxford-Regional.
No.2 Ole Miss baseball was coming off a 9-2 win over the St.Louis Billikens on Saturday. The Rebels would face Tennessee Tech in the winners bracket on Sunday. Tennessee Tech was coming off a win over Missouri State on Saturday. Tennessee Tech holds the best record in the nation and leads the nation in six major offensive categories, including home-runs.
Ole Miss wasted no time getting started and scored 2 runs in the top of the 1st. With the Rebels leading 2-0 headed into the bottom of the 3rd Tech scored 2 runs to tie the game at 2-2. After a scoreless 4th frame the Rebels regained the lead at 4-2 with 2 runs in the top of the 5th. However, Tech answered with 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th to once again tie the game at 4-4.
The Rebels retook the 5-4 lead with 1 run in the top of the 6th but Tech answered in the bottom of the 6th with 1 run to make the score 5-5. After a scoreless 7th the Rebels added a run in the top of the 8th to retake the lead at 6-5. The Rebels added 3 runs in the top of the 9th to extend the lead to 9-5. Tennessee Tech made a rally and scored 3 runs but couldn’t close the gap and the Rebels picked up the 9-8 win.
The win was just enough for the Rebels to advance to the championship game on Monday. The Rebels will face Tennessee Tech once again. This stands to be another great game which could easily become a shoot-out between both teams. For now, we look at Sundays huge win by the numbers.

Junior right-hander Brady Feigl (8-5, 4.03) took the start on the rubber for the Rebels. Feigl went for 4.2 innings and allowed 4 earned runs on 8 hits. Feigl had 8 Ks. Coach Mike Bianco went to the bullpen in the 5th and sophomore right-hander Will Ethridge (3-1, 3.91, 3) took the hill. Ethridge went for 1.1 innings and allowed 1 earned run on 3 hits. Ethridge had 1 K and 1 BB.
Coach Mike Bianco went to the pen again in the 7th and sophomore right-hander Parker Caracci (5-2, 2.35, 10) entered the game. Caracci went for 2.1 innings and allowed 3 earned runs on 0 hits. Caracci had 3 Ks and 3 BB. Bianco went to the pen again in the 9th and sophomore right-hander Greer Holston (2-1, 3.27) entered. Holston went for 0.1 innings and allowed 1 hit. Hoston had 1 BB.
Mike Bianco went to the pen again in the 9th and sophomore right-hander Houston Roth (5-0. 4.50, 1)entered. Roth went for 0.1 innings and had 1 K and the save. Caracci picked up the win in the match-up.
At The Plate
Against solid Tech pitching there were 6 Rebels who combined for 9 hits while 2 Rebels had multiple hit games. Leading all Rebels at the plate was senior Will Golsan (.310, 4 HR) who went 3 for 5 with 3 RBI. Sophomore Grae Kessinger (.302, 7 HR) went 2 for 5 with 1 RBI while junior Jacob Adams (.248, 3 HR) went 1 for 2. Junior Nick Fortes (.323, 11 HR) and freshman Tyler Keenan (.313, 9 HR) both went 1 for 3 at the plate. Junior Ryan Olenek (.361, 3 HR) went 1 for 4 with 1 RBI. Sophomore Thomas Dillard (.302, 13 HR) and freshman Anthony Servideo (.217, 1 HR) each had 1 RBI.
