The postseason may have come to an abrupt heartbreaking end for Ole Miss baseball but the postseason hits keep coming for some diamond Rebels.

The postseason may have ended for Ole Miss baseball much sooner than any of us wanted but it was a still a great season. Of course, we saw a large number of Ole Miss players selected in the 2018 MLB Draft which is the sign of a great season. Once the draft had come and gone we began to see the postseason honors roll in with a number of Rebels receiving All-American honors.

Well the honors continue to roll in for some Rebels players. Tuesday it was announced sophomore first-baseman Cole Zabowski had been named a Rawlings Gold Glove Finalist. The illustrious honor was a selection by the American Baseball Coaches Association. Zabowski had an incredible season in the field and at the plate and was essential to the Rebels success this season.

A Look At His Season

More from Ole Miss Baseball

On the season Cole Zabowski was incredible at first base. Because of his length he was able to cover the bag as well as any first baseman in the country. It was good enough for Zabowski to end up with a fielding percentage of .990 while committing 4 errors in 58 games. Zabowski also helped turn 36 double plays while covering first base.

As good as he was in the field he was as equally good if not better at the plate. Zabowski had a batting average of .300 with a slugging percentage of .481. The Lawrenceville, Georgia native had 10 HR and knocked in 44 RBI with an on-base percentage of .370.

Of course, Zabowski had an incredible year and whether he was on the bag or at the plate he was always clutch. Ole Miss baseball had a more successful season because of players like Cole Zabowski. Hopefully he will hear Rawlings call his name.
