No.2 Pass Coverage

Despite always being one of the most talented position groups, we haven’t seen the type of pass defense we saw just a few years ago. Last season we did see moments where the defensive backs played outstanding however it wasn’t very consistent. More than not we saw players continually out of position and a lot of blown coverage. In 2017 the Rebels did have 8 interceptions but the number should have been much higher.

In 2018 we will see some changes in the secondary, mainly thanks to new assistant and former Rebels DB Charles Clark. During the spring the secondary seemed much more aggressive in their coverage and it produced 2 interceptions in the Grove Bowl. Between Clark and DC Wesley McGriff we have to believe this area of concern won’t be that bad once the season gets underway. The personnel, experience and talent are all there if the Ole Miss staff can find the right mixture.
