Frank ‘Bruiser’ Kinard, OT

Bruiser Kinard played offensive tackle for the Ole Miss Rebels from 1935 to 1937 and received First Team All-American honors in both the 1936 and 1937 seasons. The honors in 1936 were the first ever received by a college player in Mississippi at any school. Kinard would be drafted in the 3rd round of the 1938 NFL Draft by the Brooklyn Dodgers where he played for 7 seasons garnering Pro Bowl honors in six of those seasons.

After a year spent in the US Navy during 1945 Kinard returned to the professional level with the New York Yankees of the All-America Football Conference from 1946 to 1947. After a brief stint as an assistant coach for the Yankees Kinard joined coach Johnny Vaught’s staff in 1948 where he would be offensive line coach until 1970. Kinard served as Athletic Director at Ole Miss from 1971 to 1973.
