Jim Miller, P

Jim Miller, a native of Ripley, Mississippi was looked upon by many as a novelty because he punted barefoot . As most Rebel fans who were around then remember, he was an outstanding punter who was much more than a novelty.

While punter for Ole Miss football from 1976-79, Miller would make the All-SEC team 3 seasons. His junior and senior seasons (1978-79) it would mean 1st team honors. Miller also claimed All-American honors in 1979.

Miller was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers, where he played two seasons and helped the Niners win Super Bowl XVI. Miller would play 7 seasons in the NFL and see rosters with the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants. At one time, Miller was one of only three punters to hit the scoreboard in the center of the roof in the Superdome.
