GOAT No.10, Chucky Mullins, DB

It is impossible to talk about indelible marks made on Ole Miss football without mentioning Chucky Mullins. Of course, Chucky’s football career was cut short because of an injury during the 1989 Vanderbilt game which left him paralyzed.

Chucky Mullins incredible emotional strength and passion for his beloved Rebels was apparent after his accident. Chucky returned to school and became the motivational leader of the Ole Miss football team until his untimely death May 6, 1991.

Chucky may not have had a long life however his legacy is rooted deep within Ole Miss. The University of Mississippi honored him with the renaming of what is now Chucky Mullins Drive. There is also a bronze bust within the team entrance at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

Of course, Chucky Mullins and the number 38 are honored each year with the Chucky Mullins Courage Award. A defensive player is selected by his teammates and awarded the number 38 for the upcoming season.
