No.4 Missouri Tigers (2-0)

The Missouri Tigers may have not played an upper tier team so far in 2018 but they still have a fair place in the rankings. Missouri’s wins have come on a week-one 51-14 win over UT Martin and a 40-13 win over Wyoming this past Saturday. Thru the first two games the  Missouri offense has been as expected putting up 1,159 yards of total offense with 792 yards coming thru the air. The Tigers have been doing well on defense even though the competition level wasn’t quite what they will face in the SEC. Missouri is one of those teams which for now we know they are good but we really can’t be sure just how good they are. Missouri will be back in action this Saturday as they travel to face Purdue (0-2).

No.3 (24) South Carolina Gamecocks (1-1)

In South Carolina‘s week-one 49-15 win over Coastal Carolina the Gamecocks looked poised to have a strong season. After the disappointing week-two 41-17 loss to the No.3 Georgia Bulldogs the Gamecocks can still have a good season. Will Muschamp has a good team with some very talented players in skill positions who can make plays. Muschamp also has a decent defense which is still finding its way. The second game of the season wasn’t a very good showing but then again it was Georgia. South Carolina is going to be one of those teams which will be fun to watch as the season progresses. The Gamecocks matchup against Marshall has been cancelled due to Hurricane Florence.

No.2 Kentucky Wildcats (2-0)

Of course the Kentucky Wildcats headed to Gainesville this past Saturday and walked out with something not done in the series in 31 meetings. Behind a strong defense and power run game the Wildcats picked up the big 27-16 win and shocked the Gators and new head coach Dan Mullen. Mark Stoops has been building the team he wants, a team which can run the ball and a defense he knows can make stops. So far this season his formula seems to be working. Thru the Wildcats first two games they produced 881 yards of total offense with 602 yards coming on the ground. At the same time Stoops defense has allowed just 123 yards per game rushing. If the Wildcats have a weakness its in the passing game but should it should improve. Kentucky will be back in action this Saturday as they host Murray State (0-2).

No.1 (3) Georgia Bulldogs (2-0)

Well you might as well get used to seeing the No.3 Georgia Bulldogs sitting at the top of SEC West. After this past Saturday the SEC saw what the rest of the SEC East will likely see this season. The Bulldogs are for real and at this point I really don’t see another SEC East team who can beat them. Of course, this past Saturday the Bulldogs picked up a big 41-17 win over the No.24 South Carolina Gamecocks. The Georgia offense is very effective and efficient and thru two games have 981 yards of total offense with 555 coming on the ground and 426 coming thru the air. What makes Georgia so good is their defense which has given up only 488 yards thru two games and only allowed 171 yards rushing. We can expect more of the same this Saturday as Georgia will host Middle Tennessee State (1-1).
