After what Ole Miss football fans were able to watch from then freshman Matt Corral in the 2018 Egg Bowl we are anxious to see his competition.

While Ole Miss football fans await the 2019 Grove Bowl and what we have lying ahead are questions which Ole Miss football fans have. Last season we saw just as sample of what the future holds for the Ole Miss football program. Simply put we saw the future of OM quarterbacks in freshman Matt Corral.

This past season we watched as Matt Coral was brought in on occasion but we also watched as Corral took control of the Ole Miss offense, the team and the future Rebels with his attitude in the 2018 Egg Bowl against Miss State. Naturally we all look forward to that attitude when he takes the lead role in the Ole Miss offense this spring. The one question on Rebels minds is who will compete with Corral at the QB position?

While there is little doubt Matt Corral will indeed be the starter you never can tell who may come into the spring with serious competition on their minds. When we look at the depth at the QB position we can see the roster is pretty thin when it comes to experience and Corral is the only QB who has any in-game experience.

Including Corral there are only three other QBs on the roster and two of those are also freshmen. The other QB on the roster is sophomore Grant Restmeyer and he would appear to be the QB on the roster who might give Corral the most competition. At 6’3 and 224lbs Restmeyer certainly has the size to play SEC quarterback.

The two freshmen QBs on the Rebels roster besides Corral are Jacob Cendoya and Ford Werness. Like Restmeyer both Cendoya and Werness are clearly capable of creating competition for Corral this spring. There is also incoming freshman QB Grant Tisdale who is quite vocal about coming to Oxford to compete at QB from day one.

While we do expect Matt Corral to be the projected starter for the Rebels we have to wait for this spring to see who steps up to give him competition and how the depth chart aligns.
