Coach Kermit Davis and Ole Miss basketball will be looking to get back on track in The Pavilion against Texas A&M Wednesday night.

Ole Miss basketball (14-7, 4-4) will be looking to get back in the win column Wednesday night as they host Texas A&M (8-12, 1-7). The Rebels are entering the matchup coming off a loss to No.22 Miss State this past Saturday. The loss to the Bulldogs was the Rebels fourth consecutive loss.

Texas A&M will enter the matchup coming off a 96-73 loss to No.1 Tennessee this past weekend. Despite the Aggies overall record they do have a very talented team and have some big wins this season. TAMU recently defeated Kansas State in the SEC/Big12 Challenge and also have wins over Valpo, Oregon State and SEC foe Alabama. Of course, OHT looks at the Aggies key players.

Coached by Billy Kennedy the Aggies have some players which are depended upon. Sophomore guard TJ Starks leads TAMU in scoring averaging 13.2 points per game. Starks is also the Aggies assists leader averaging 3.9 assists per game. Starks also averages 2.8 rebounds per game.

Junior guard Wendell Mitchell leads the Aggies in 3-point field goal percentage hitting 39.3% of his shots from beyond the arc. Mitchell also leads the Aggies in steals averaging 1.6 per game. Mitchell averages 11.6 points and 4.2 boards per game.

Sophomore guard Savion Flagg leads TAMU in rebounds averaging 7.9 boards per game. Flagg also averages 12.4 points per game for the Aggies. Junior forward Josh Nebo leads TAMU in blocks with 2.5 per game. Nebo also averages 8.5 points and 5.8 boards per game.

Observations

Needless to say with four consecutive losses coach Kermit Davis and the Rebels really need this home win. However, despite the Aggies record there are no easy wins in the SEC. The Aggies have a good team which has seen its own share of wins and losses but they will not be an easy foe for Ole Miss basketball.

From the Rebels losses we have seen a major issue with offensive turnovers and we’ve also seen the Rebels fail to make points off turnovers they create on defense. These seem to be the two main issues which Kermit Davis will have to fix or the Rebels will find more losses in the SEC beginning Wednesday night.
