Some Ole Miss football fans enjoyed watching the inaugural season of the Alliance of American football over the weekend. Some didn’t.

As a huge Ole Miss football fan I have a huge following for the former Rebels who have a chance in the professional ranks regardless of the level. They are Ole Miss family and every former Rebels player deserves congratulations and good luck as they try to further their careers in the inaugural season of the AAF.

While we watched over the weekend we saw former Florida Gators coach Steve Spurrier dominated in his AAF debut as the head coach of the Orlando Apollos. Spurrier and the Apollos picked up a 40-6 blowout over the Atlanta Legends.

Sunday we watched as local favorite Memphis Express fell to the Birmingham Iron 26-0 in the first game for either team in the 2019 Alliance  of American Football season. From what we gather on Saturday night which produced 2.9 million national viewers Sundays games were just as good or close.

Honest Observations

Look we all know which team I hope finds success in the new AAF. However, what we want and what we get are usually two different things. I like the Memphis Express, coach Mike Singletary, the former Ole Miss players and what they  bring to the new league. And honestly, who doesn’t love more football?

This really is an amazing year for the new AAF and Ole Miss football moving forward. What we know is there is a lot of talent within the rosters throughout the new league and from the first weekend they have shown there are football fans wanting more football especially after a very dull Super Bowl.

OHT’s Thoughts

From what I personally saw in two of the four inaugural games the AAF appears to be a sudden success and more football for fans across the nation. When you consider some of these players are hunting a first or second chance in the NFL then you have to appreciate what these players have had to go thru to pursue their own personal dreams. I really can’t see why some people don’t love having more football.

Next. The 2019 Diamond Rebels!. dark

The Alliance of American Football seems to have been well received by football fans across the nation with over 2.9 million viewers Saturday night and more Sunday. We can look forward to more great action over the coming weeks. Job well done AAF! Hotty Toddy!
