This Friday Ole Miss baseball cranks up the 2019 season and Tuesday head coach Mike Bianco revealed his starting order and his rotation.

The beginning of the 2019 Ole Miss baseball season is this Friday and Ole Miss baseball is excited about the start. After a bad football season we’ve also had basketball to fall back on but every Ole Miss fan expects this baseball team to be good. In 2018 we watched as the Rebels won the 2018 SEC Tourney but dropped the Oxford regional to Tennessee Tech.

This Friday the 2019 Ole Miss baseball sees their first pitch of the season and will be facing Wright State. Wright State is a very well-coached and talented team which could slip a game or two from the Rebels over this coming weekend. The Rebels will face Wright State in a season opening series which begins Friday.

With the opening weekend series coming up for the Rebels coach Mike Bianco had his weekly presser where he revealed the starting lineups and his pitching rotation for the season opening series. In the last week coach Bianco has had a large degree of recruiting success and now he begins the 2019 season with his selection of the Rebels to begin the season.

Beginning behind the plate will be junior Cooper Johnson who has had significant playing time. Johnson has seen the pitching by now and has improved since 2018. Johnson will be great behind the plate.

At first we have Cole Zabowski and second base we have Anthony Servideo. Grae Kessinger will be at the shortstop position while Tyler Keenan  will be at the corner.

There could be changes at middle infield should Kessinger not be able to make it thru the series as the result of a lingering injury. From all reports Kessinger has been practicing and is expected to be fine.

Thomas Dillard will be in left field while Ryan Olenek will be at center. Tim Elko will be making the transition from infield to right field for the start. Chase Cockrell is set to be the DH for the season opening series.

On The Mound

Besides his starting lineup coach Mike Bianco also announced his pitching rotation for the season opening home series. From what we know of Bianco over the years, he has always had very good pitching. This season is no exception and now we know who he is giving the first pitch of the 2019 Ole Miss baseball season.

The Rebels Friday night starter for the season opener is set to be Will Ethridge. From there we will have to wait and see but we know Bianco has a plan for the mound and it will work. Saturday and Sunday starters are expected to be JUCO transfer Zach Phillips and Gunnar Hoglund accordingly. Of course, All-American Parker Caracci is the best possible option at closer.

First pitch for the season opening series from Swayze Field against Wright State is set for 4pm CT Friday and the game will be televised via SECN+. Good luck to coach Mike Bianco and the Rebels this weekend. Hotty Toddy!
