Ole Miss Basketball: Rebels Hoops Pick Up Twentieth Win

Coach Kermit Davis and Ole Miss basketball were back in action Saturday closing out the 2018-2019 season with their twentieth win.

The gig is up! Coach Kermit Davis and Ole Miss basketball (20-11, 10-8) pulled off the impossible picking up the Rebels twentieth win of the season. The Rebels were picked to finish last in the SEC but surprised the college basketball world with a great regular season and are poised to hit the SEC Tourney and postseason wide open.

Coach Kermit Davis and Ole Miss basketball were back in action Saturday as they faced Missouri (14-16, 5-13) on the road in Columbia. Despite a slow start in a first half which saw the Tigers take a 34-26 lead into the locker room at the break the Rebels rallied back to outscore Mizzou 47-34 in the second half to get the 73-68 road win. As a team the Rebels shot .451 from the field while Missouri shot slightly better at .481. The Rebels shot just .364 from beyond the arc while the Tigers shot .471 from 3-point range. At the charity stripe the Rebels shot .905 while the Tigers shot .833 from the free throw line. Missouri out-rebounded Ole Miss 30 to 25 and created 8 Rebels turnovers with 2 steals. The Rebels created 10 Tigers turnovers and had 4 steals in the game.

Individual Rebels Numbers

In Saturdays game there were 2 Rebels who scored in double-digits. Leading all Rebels was junior Breein Tyree who had 21 points. Tyree also had 2 assists. Sophomore Devontae Shuler added 18 points with 2 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. Senior Bruce Stevens added 9 points with 4 rebounds and 1 blocked shot.
