No.24 Ole Miss travelled to Columbia, South Carolina to face the No.16 Gamecocks (23-7, 2-5) in a three game weekend series which began Saturday. The Rebels entered the matchup hoping to extend their 7 game win streak but came up just short.

On Saturday in game-one after a scoreless first inning the Gamecocks got on the board first with 2 runs in the bottom of the second inning. Observations

The SEC road is never an easy place to play and even a tougher place to find a win. When you factor in a team like No.16 South Carolina on their home field then you knew beforehand this would be a tough series for coach Mike Smith and Ole Miss softball. We don’t have to wait long to see if the Rebels can bounce back.
