Coach Matt Luke and Ole Miss football are currently in spring practice but there is other football news out of Oxford and it isn’t from the practice field.

While the weekend was a rough one for Ole Miss basketball and Ole Miss baseball coach Matt Luke and Ole Miss football got good recruiting news Sunday with two big commitments. From the past two recruiting classes under Matt Luke we know he can recruit and now with the addition of coaches Rich Rodriguez and Mike MacIntyre it seems Ole Miss football recruiting is on the right track for a huge 2020 class.

Sunday Matt Luke and the Rebels picked up commitments from Kyjuan Herndon and Austin Keys. Herndon and Keys commitments to the 2020 class rank Luke and this recruiting class to No.46 nationally and No.12 in the SEC. Keep in mind this class currently only has 3 commitments and in coming weeks and months the number of commitments will rise as will the rankings. For now it seems the Rebels are off to a good start so OHT takes a look at what we have.

Kyjuan Herndon is rated as a 3* ATH out of Sandalwood High School in Jacksonville, Florida. Herndon is listed at 5’9 and 175lbs and scores a 247Sports Composite 0.8205. Herndon was recruited by Derrick Nix and has offers from Cincinnati, Bowling Green, Coastal Carolina and Colorado State.

ILB Austin Keys of Seminary is listed at 6’2 and 225 lbs. Keys was recruited by Freddie Roach and has offers from Arkansas State, Louisiana and Southern Miss. At this time Keys is unrated by 247Sports but we know rankings can change. Keys marks the second Mississippi player in the 2020 class of three.

Coach Matt Luke’s first commitment for the 2020 Ole Miss football recruiting class was from 3* OT Eli Acker of Heritage Academy out Columbus. Acker is listed at 6’5 and 275lbs and has a 247Sports Composite of 0.8895 and is ranked as the No.34 OT nationally and the No.8 player in Mississippi. Acker was recruited by Jacob Peeler and has offers from Arkansas, Nebraska, Notre Dame and Southern Miss.
