Ole Miss Baseball: Mike Bianco And Rebels Get Midweek Road Win

Coach Mike Bianco and No.21 Ole Miss baseball were back in action Tuesday night as they travelled to face off with the Memphis Tigers.

Coach Mike Bianco and No.21 Ole Miss baseball (18-8) entered Autozone Park in Memphis coming off an SEC road series loss on the road against Missouri. Tuesday night the Rebels were looking to get back on the winning track against the Memphis Tigers. Memphis (11-12) entered the midweek matchup coming off a series loss to Wichita State.

After a scoreless first frame the Rebels struck hard in the top of the second with 4 runs to take the 4-0 lead. The Tigers answered with 4 runs of their own in the bottom of the frame to tie the game at 4-4. Ole Miss added 3 runs in the top of the fourth to retake the lead at 7-4. The Tigers added 2 runs in the bottom of the eighth to cut the Rebels lead to 7-6. The Rebels added 2 more runs in the top of the ninth to extend their lead to 9-6 and ultimately got 9-6 the win.

In the midweek win there were 6 Rebels who combined for 10 hits with 3 Rebels recording multiple hit games at the plate. Leading all Rebels was senior Chase Cockrell who went 3 for 5 with 2 RBI in the game. Junior Thomas Dillard went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI while junior Grae Kessinger went 2 for 5 at the plate. Freshman DH Kevin Graham went 1 for 1 while senior Ryan Olenek went 1 for 3 with 1 RBI. Sophomore Tim Elko went 1 for 4 with 1 RBI in the win. Junior Cole Zabowski had 1 RBI.

On The Hill

Sophomore left-hander Jordan Fowler drew the start on the hill for Mike Bianco and the Rebels. Fowler went for 1.2 innings allowing 4 earned runs on 5 hits with 4 Ks and 1 BB. Junior right-hander Taylor Broadway entered in the second and went for 2.1 innings allowing 0 runs on 4 hits with 1 BB.

Junior right-hander Tyler Myers entered in the fifth and went for 3.0 innings allowing 0 runs on just 1 hit with 3 Ks. Freshman left-hander Kaleb Hill began the eighth and went for 0.1 inning allowing 2 earned runs on 2 hits with 1 K. Coach Mike Bianco went to the bullpen and junior right-hander Austin Miller finished out the eighth allowing 0 runs on just 1 hit with 2 Ks. Closing right-hander Parker Caracci entered in the ninth and went 1.0 inning allowing 0 runs on 2 hits with 1 K. Myers (1-0) picked up the win while Caracci earned his 5th save of the season.
