Former Ole Miss football player DeMarquis Gates has made a name for himself in the new AAF and was recently named Defensive Player of the Week.

There is no doubt Ole Miss football fans love our former players and love seeing them perform well at the next level after their playing days in Oxford are over. With the new Alliance of America Football league we have seen some great former Ole Miss players hit the field again and none have made more of an impact than DeMarquis Gates. Gates with the Memphis Express (2-5) was named as the AAF Defensive Player of the Week with a dominating linebacker performance.

DeMarquis Gates has certainly made the most of his time in the new league with the Memphis Express and it really comes as no surprise to some of us. Rebels fans can easily remember the impact he made on the field in Oxford and it was expected he would do well in Memphis. However, nobody imagined he would have the same impact there he had at Ole Miss.
