The QB Position

New starting quarterback red-shirt freshman Matt Corral has had a great spring making a lot of improvement and it showed Saturday. Corral finished the day completing 22 of 37 passes for 240 yards and 1 TD with 1 INT. Corral was in a white jersey and was limited in what he was truly able to do especially in the running game.

Corral was still impressive and we can see how much he has developed in such a short time. This is very important because Corral is the guy who will lead the Rebels in 2019. There is still the fact there is not another QB in the position group who has any in-game college experience and we saw it Saturday.

However, there is reason to be optimistic with both true freshmen Grant Tisdale and Kinkead Dent. Tisdale had a good game completing 3 of 5 passes for 37 yards and 1 TD. Dent completed 4 of 12 for 36 yards. Neither QB had an interception and both showed mobility with Dent finishing second in the Rebels running game with 6 carries for 50 yards.

Behind the three deep there was also snaps taken by freshman Jacob Cendoya and junior Grant Restmeyer. Cendoya finished 0 for 1 while Restmeyer went 0 for 4 thru the air. Each QB had 1 INT but they showed their mobility. Cendoya had 3 carries for 10 yards while Restmeyer had 3 carries for 28 yards. The Rebels QB position depth chart may be the youngest in Division I football.
