The New Defense

This was a very impressive Grove Bowl on the defensive side of the ball with Mike Mac’s new 3-4 defense picking up the win. The Rebels defense returns 8 starters from 2018 and made some key pickups in recruiting. Saturday we watched a swarming defense which was very physical with some huge plays being made.

Mike Mac played a total of 29 Rebels in the scrimmage and we saw what the future holds with our new OC, his new defense and the talent he has to work with. During the spring we watched as a number of players found new positions in the 3-4 and it appears they have adjusted well from what we saw on Saturday. According to OleMissSports.com when asked about the DEs now playing at OLB,

"“They have improved. I feel good about them. I have seen steady improvement every day and I definitely think they can do it.” ~DC Mike MacIntyre"

In total the new 3-4 Landshark D finished the spring scrimmage big with 4 sacks and 3 interceptions. The final INT of the game by Kam White secured the win for the Mike Mac defense.
