Coach Mike Bianco and Ole Miss baseball were back in action over the weekend as they faced Tennessee in Knoxville in a three-game SEC series.
Coach Mike Bianco and Ole Miss baseball (33-23, 16-14) were on the road trying to bounce back from the series sweep at the hand of Miss State. The Rebels were looking at a four-game losing streak after the midweek road loss at Arkansas State. Tennessee would be a rough series for the Rebels as they took the losses in the first two games.
Saturday the Rebels were able to get the game-three win over the Vols and ended the six-game losing skid. Coach Mike Bianco has seen his share losing streaks during his tenure as Ole Miss head coach seeing two six-game losing skids in past seasons. However, the Rebels have never seen a seven-game skid under Bianco.
Finishing The Season
Ole Miss Rebels
The Rebels ended the regular season Saturday as they picked up the game-three win. The win allowed Ole Miss baseball to avoid the sweep, but more importantly, the win allowed the Rebels to also avoid a seven-game losing skid. It’s obvious the Rebels haven’t been playing their best baseball as the season has wound down. However, a win was exactly what the Rebels needed as they head to Hoover to begin the SEC tourney.
The Rebels will begin the SEC tourney Tuesday morning as they face off against Missouri (34-21-1, 13-16-1) in their first game. During the regular season Mizzou picked up the series win in Columbia and will be a tough matchup for Bianco and the Rebels. Missouri enters the tourney coming off a SEC series sweep by the Florida Gators. Ole Miss enters Hoover as the defending SEC tourney champions winning in 2018.
Ole Miss baseball will begin the SEC Tourney Tuesday in Hoover. Good luck to coach Mike Bianco and the Rebels in the tourney! Hotty Toddy!
