Ole Miss Baseball: Rebels fall in game-one in Fayetteville
Coach Mike Bianco and Ole Miss baseball were back in action Saturday as they faced off against Arkansas in the NCAA Fayetteville Super Regional.
Saturday coach Mike Bianco and Ole Miss (40-26) were back in action as they faced Arkansas (45-17) in the Fayetteville Super Regional. Ole Miss entered the matchup coming off the Oxford Regional championship last weekend and were looking to extend their win streak to four games but the Hogs would have something else in mind.
The Rebels wasted no time and got on the board first with 1 run in the top of the first inning to take the early 1-0 lead. Arkansas responded with 4 runs in the bottom of the frame to take the lead at 4-1. The Hogs then extended their lead to 6-1 with 2 runs in the bottom of the second inning.
The Hogs weren’t done and added 3 runs in the bottom of the fourth to push the lead to 9-1. Still not done, the Hogs added 2 more runs in the bottom of the sixth to make it an 11-1 game. The Rebels cut it to 11-2 with 1 run in the top of the ninth but couldn’t rally and picked up the game-one loss. OHT looks at the loss by the numbers.
