Ole Miss Football: More On The 2021 Rebels Recruiting Class
Ole Miss football is preparing for the season opener against Baylor and with a new head coach we are beginning to see more action on the recruiting front.
As head coach Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss football inch ever closer to the season opener its beginning to feel normal once again. The spring and now summer have been rough for both fans and players because of the pandemic. Sports came to an abrupt halt and many were concerned we might not see organized sports for some time. Ole Miss football recruiting is no different. In 2020, why should it be different?
Now it seems as though we may see a college football season and with players reporting back to campus, virtual recruiting has picked up and we are seeing a little more action. Regardless of what may become of the 2020 Ole Miss football season, we do know there will be action on the 2021 recruiting class trail. It may seem slow for new head coach Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss football recruiting at the moment but things will pick back up. In fact, things picked up Monday with the Rebels sixth commitment for the 2021 class.

Lane Kiffin’s latest addition, only the sixth commitment for the 2021 class, comes from Biloxi, Mississippi. Monday Elijah Sabbatini committed to become an Ole Miss Rebel. Elijah Sabbatini could easily be the best commitment coach Kiffin has earned thus far and maybe out of an entire class. Yes! OHT said it first. We’ll explain later, but for now lets talk about Sabbatinni.
Elijah Sabbatini is a being recruited as a safety and is so far unranked as a recruit. Yes, as of now, Sabbatini has NO 247Sports Composite score and ZERO stars by his name. However, this young man can seriously ball. Anybody can watch his 2019 highlights and see what he possesses on the field. And, he does it in every aspect of the game.
Sabatini is listed at 6’1 and 195 lbs and plays both sides of the ball. He is especially good on offense which makes one wonder why he is being recruited for secondary? Its called future player development. Future player development is coach Lane Kiffin’s forte’.
Many Ole Miss football fans may wonder how this plays into the game-plan which Kiffin has for Ole Miss football, but we know he is focused on rebuilding a defense which has been lacking for a number of seasons. However, in the case with Sabbatini, don’t be surprised if you see him on both sides of the ball in Oxford.
Right now the 2021 Ole Miss football recruiting class ranks No.82 in the nation and No.14 in the SEC. While this may raise doubts among some Rebels fans, it shouldn’t. 2020 is a different year from what we have ever seen before. It has affected every aspect of our lives. Of course, college football has felt the effects as well. For now Rebels fans should have faith in coach Kiffin, his staff and the process. Recruiting will get better. Stay safe and always Hotty Toddy!
