On Friday, December 4th, the Ole Miss football signing class was ranked #73 in the nation according to 24/7 Sports and some Rebel fans hit the panic button.

Fast forward one week and on December 11th, the 2020 Ole Miss football recruiting class has jumped up to 18th in the country according to 24/7 Sports!  Has any school other than Ole Miss this year, jumped 55 spots in one week? I doubt one has as this is unbelievable what Lane Kiffin is doing in Oxford.

On  Saturday, December 12th they added a three-star 6′ 3″ 300-pound defensive tackle.  Before that Ole Miss added two 4-stars in Starkville, MS quarterback Luke Altmyer and the #1 Tight End in the nation in Hudson Wolfe from Savannah, Tennessee. Wolf had recently de-committed from Tennessee.

In addition to Altmyer and Wolfe’s commitments, Kiffin got pledges from JUCO defensive tackle Isaiah Iton, receiver Brandon Buckhaulter, defensive end DeMarcus Smith, offensive lineman Makylan Pounders, and safety Elijah Sabbatini.

Others that Ole Miss is still after are receivers JJ Henry and four-star receiver Malik McClain, four-star defensive tackle Tywone Malon, and four-star cornerback Markevious Brown, offensive linemen Jayden Williams and Austin Barber.  There are some others that they are pursuing, but don’t be surprised if they hold back a couple for the transfer portal.

During the summer and into the fall many Rebel fans were worried about the recruiting as at one point Ole Miss was last in the SEC and in the ’90s nationally.  Unlike them, I was not worried.

Lane Kiffin worked for USC Pete Carroll and Alabama Head Coach Nick Saban in addition to being a head coach himself with USC, Tennessee, Florida Atlantic, and the NFL’s Oakland Raiders.  Kiffin knew exactly what he was doing and putting an exciting team on the field was a huge boost.
