Auburn Tigers
October 30 will be Halloween night and Ole Miss football will be hosting the Auburn Tigers at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. This will be the eighth game of the Rebels 2021 campaign and a chance for retribution for Lane Kiffin. In 2020 Rebels fans watched as the officials calling the game robbed Ole Miss of a chance to win the game.
College football fans around the nation were shocked by the blatant missed call and then the subsequent 20K fine imposed on Lane Kiffin by the SEC office for voicing his displeasure. Of course, Weagles loved both. Now is the time for revenge and it will be sweeter than candy on Halloween night.
In 2020, the Auburn Tigers finished the regular season with a 6-4 record. Not bad considering it was during a season plagued by Covid-19. Still, it wasn’t good enough for the Tigers to retain former head coach Gus Malzhan. Enter new Tigers head coach Bryan Harsin. The former Boise State head coach is a good hire. Harsin led Boise State to five 10-win seasons and three Mountain West Conference championships.
It’s a win-win for everybody who is an Auburn fan. Auburn is getting a good young head coach and Harsin is getting a loaded roster. Quarterback Bo Nix returns as the likely starter because of his experience and numbers. In 2020, Nix completed 214 of 357 attempts for 2,415 yards and 12 TDs with 7 INTs. Nix also had 108 carries for 388 yards and 7 TDs on the ground. If he starts the Tigers have the weapons to be a good offense. However, the Tigers won’t make it out of Oxford with a win.
