Ole Miss may have had the No.1 ranked transfer portal class in 2024, but several players left for fresh opportunities. Fifteen players transferred to new teams during the winter and spring transfer portals, but how did some of those players get on with their new teams?
Quinshon Judkins - Transferred to Ohio State
The Rebels' biggest transfer portal loss ever, running back Quinshon Judkins was the only significant starter to transfer out. After competing in the 2023 Peach Bowl, Judkins chose to hit the portal.
Rumors suggested that Judkins wanted upwards of $1 million in NIL to stay with Ole Miss, but Lane Kiffin decided against it. In hindsight, that may have been a bad move, with the running back room struggling in 2024.
The sophomore running back chose to transfer to Big Ten powerhouse Ohio State, joining another talented running back, TreVeyon Henderson. Judkins and Henderson have been key in getting the Buckeyes to the quarterfinal stage of the College Football Playoffs.
Judkins, who has played in 13 games, currently has 157 carries for 839 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns. He has also caught 17 passes for 118 receiving yards and a lone touchdown. If the Buckeyes become National Champions, it will be a successful move for him.
Isheem Young - Transferred to North Texas
After transferring from Iowa State, safety Isheem Young did not see much playing time on defense for the Rebels. He played in seven games, all in a reserve role. He finished with 14 tackles and one pass break-up while also contributing on special teams.
Young hit the transfer portal, heading to North Texas, where he was expected to be a big acquisition for the Mean Green. Unfortunately, he was injured in fall camp and missed the entire season. He will now be done unless he gets a surprise extra year of eligibility.
